Review: Wanted

The name says it all...

This movie "wanted" a couple of things, like some action, a good story line, decent acting...

The previews did a very good job at playing up this movie. I really did have high hopes for it but am sorely disappointed after having seen it. The storyline could have led to a truely great film but it was completely underdeveloped and we're expected to believe this kid is ready to be a top assassin after just a couple of weeks.

There's no real build up... he kills a guy or two and then he takes on the "villan" who's supposed to be the world's best assassin.

In the end there's a good twist which you don't see coming up front but it makes sense after the fact but it leads to a completely unrealistic ending that is just a big let down.

When all is said and done, I recommend renting and not buying this movie.

I'd give it Image Removed (2 of 5).

He's using these ads to try and capture the 18 - 34 year old male by placing the ads in such games as "Guitar Hero III", "The Incredible Hulk", "NASCAR 09", "NBA Live 08", and "NFL Tour" and marketing them in certain key states only.

Image Removed

Review: Indiana Jones... Crystal Skull

Talk about over the top... Do directors lose their creative style if they aren't involved in a franchise project for a while? While the first three movies had some "Yeah, right" moments, this one was full of them.

The plot was a little more watered down than the previous three. This one stems from aliens visiting Earth back before civilization and giving those early humans the knowledge for farming and thus creating the early civilizations. A temple is build in their honor and a crystal skull is stolen.

The legend says that the one who returns the skull will be given the gift of its power. This time its the Russians after the power, not the Nazis as was the case previously.

Image Removed (3 of 5) star rating.

Click here to purchase "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"

Review: Iron Man

Robert Downy Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a very successful (and wealthy) weapons inventor who owns a company making weapons for the government. While onsite in Afghanastan, his convoy is ambushed and he's forced to make a missle for a terrorist group who captures him.

He decides to build a metal suit and fight back against his captors. After his escape he decides to upgrade his suit and fight against the very terrorists who captured him and stock piled many of his weapons.

Overall the movie was ok; Some stunning visuals but the climactic ending left something to be desired. There is a couple of quick fight scenes and then just as fast as it started, it's over.

Also starring Gwenyth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and Terrence Howard.
Directed by Jon Favreau
PG-13

This movie receives a Image Removed (3 of 5).

Review: One Missed Call

The premise behind this movie is a chain of events that appear to start when one of the main character's friends dies. Her phone then dials someone from her contacts list and leaves a voicemail with a date stamp in the future of when that victim will perish. The recipient is able listen to their last few seconds.

This continues until the main character begins to delve into the chain of events and finds that things were put in motion well before her first friend died.

In the end things lead her and a detective whose sister was included in the phone chain to a hospital that was ravaged by fire not too long ago. There they discover a woman who they believe burned in the fire but think her spirit is still wandering the Earth on the killing spree.

There's a twist that you don't really see coming but once they explain it, you can't help but think to yourself... "Where's the originality?" To be honest this movie ended up as background noise as I couldn't keep my concentration focused to it. I'd give this a Image Removed (2 of 5) star rating.

Edited on 10/12/2008 by tiggiler

Review: Made Of Honor

This was a pretty cute movie. Stars Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan.

Made of Honor revolves around Tom and Hannah, who have been platonic friends for 10 years. He's a serial dater, while she wants marriage but hasn't found Mr. Right.

Hannah leaves for a trip to Scotland for work and while she's away Tom finally realizes that he has intimate feelings for her. However, when she comes back, she has a little surprise for Tom. She asks him to be her Maid of Honor. Tom agrees, but is reluctant to since he has feelings for her. Tom goes through some obstacles to get Hannah for himself.

This was definitely a chick flick, but it was still cute. I definitely enjoyed this movie!
